Handcrafted by skilled artisans with meticulous attention to detail, this felling axe has the timeless Dayton pattern, favored by seasoned woodsmen. The blade is meticulously forged from 5160 grade alloy steel, ensuring superior strength, toughness, and durability. Heat-treated and quenched, it features a hardened edge extending 1-1/2˝ up the bit, maximizing edge retention. Tempered to Rc 50-54, the edge maintains sharpness without sacrificing resilience. The 36˝L curved handle, fashioned from grade "A" American hickory, offers optimal grain orientation and alignment, secured to the head in the traditional manner with a softwood wedge crossed with a steel wedge for enhanced stability. A protective linseed oil coating preserves the handle's integrity. The 4 lb. axe head is coated with oil to prevent rust and highlight its natural elegance. Included is a premium leather sheath adorned with an embossed logo, featuring a buckle for secure fastening, ensuring both the tool and the user are safeguarded.
Caution: Use caution when handling this axe, the blade is hand honed to razor sharpness
